Finextra went behind the scenes at NayaOne to quiz Ambar Vitelli, head of strategic partnerships, on the qualities the fintech is looking for in new hires.

NayaOne specialises in forging partnerships and delivering products across the financial sector through the employment of fintech-as-a-service and cloud technologies. The company aids banks, companies, and regulators in developing services in digital assets, ESG, and Web 3.0, among other areas.

What top tips can you offer candidates looking to join the industry?

Vitelli tells us that candidates should keep in mind the disruptive nature of fintechs today and the rapid emergence of new solutions and verticals to keep up with the fast pace of the industry. Experts of finance and technology join forces with creatives to push the envelope in the sector — hopefuls need to be willing to push the envelope and grow with the industry.

Your work has an impact — fintech is a fast-growing industry delivering innovation and change. You must be able to drive change, enhance products, support marketing and create the perfect user experience.

What does NayaOne want from their ideal candidates?

Vitelli points out that the most successful hires are ambitious, collaborative, active listeners who are willing to see the bigger picture and problem solve.

Candidates should also be dependable, adaptable, forward-thinking, communicative, and self-motivated. Being able to integrate with the team both in projects and socially is desirable.

What roles is NayaOne currently hiring for?

NayaOne is currently hiring for the positions of innovation consultant, front-end engineer, software engineer/tech analyst, and business analyst among other roles.

Why work at NayaOne?

Vitelli emphasises that NayaOne’s company culture of diversity and growth, and a rare wealth of experience across sectors are significant drawcards.
Vitelli believes that it is critical for NayaOne employees to see themselves as part of a whole and to work towards the mutual benefit of their peers and the overall growth of the company. Being able to visualise and pursue future potential of the industry is a much needed and advantageous trait, she expresses.

The composition of the NayaOne team reflects the ecosystem we sit in the middle of. The team is comprised of ex-bankers, consultants, tech professionals, graduates, ex-VC and insurance advisors, and ex-civil servants. This provides a unique environment with insights from all parts of the ecosystem, particularly banking and tech start-ups where most companies typically struggle. A candidate bringing their own experience to our rich and diverse team would contribute heavily to the success of our mission, to enable tech for the future of finance.

We are in a unique position to identify emerging trends within UK and global markets ahead of time. This is due to our position at the centre of the ecosystem which has resulted in a network of fintechs, VCs, banks, regulators, and associations. These insights also provide the opportunity to understand the requirements of both the bank and tech sides of the market.

Tell us about success stories of employees that have risen through NayaOne’s ranks

Vitelli tells us her own story, starting with a background in English literature and working her way up with the help of CEO Karan Jain:

With little to no technical experience prior to starting at NayaOne, I was both nervous and excited. Thrilled by the fast-moving nature of the industry and the vision of where NayaOne would be in the coming years, I dived in headfirst.

Within a short space of time, I was supported to build technical skills to be able to speak with partners and to be able to demonstrate our platform to some of the largest organisations in the world. I am incredibly fortunate to be working as part of a team who did not limit my role based on my lack of technical experience but supported me to learn and expand my knowledge and horizons. I am incredibly proud to be working for a company that has strong values and is really supporting the growth of women in tech!
